
An internationally recognized artificial intelligence adoption expert has praised Balochistan’s growing investment in AI and digital skills training, describing the province’s efforts to equip young people with future-ready skills as a positive step toward expanding employment opportunities in Pakistan’s emerging digital economy.
Dr. Gleb Tsipursky, a behavioral scientist, CEO of Disaster Avoidance Experts, and author of the forthcoming book The Psychology of AI Adoption at Work: From Resistance to Results (Georgetown University Press, 2026), highlighted Balochistan’s AI-skilling initiatives in a commentary published by Balochistan Pulse.
Referring to programs that have expanded access to artificial intelligence and cybersecurity training for thousands of young people across the province, Dr. Tsipursky said such initiatives are aligned with Pakistan’s broader efforts to prepare its workforce for the demands of a rapidly evolving technology-driven economy.
However, he noted that technical training and certifications alone may not be sufficient to improve employability in an era where AI tools are becoming increasingly accessible.
“Employers need more than proof that young people learned about AI. They need proof that young people can use it responsibly when real work is at stake,” he wrote.
According to Dr. Tsipursky, the next challenge for policymakers and training providers is ensuring that skills development programs translate into practical workplace competence. He argued that while certificates demonstrate course completion, they do not necessarily show whether graduates can solve real-world problems, exercise judgment, or work effectively within professional environments.
To address this gap, the AI expert recommended introducing an “experience ladder” alongside major AI training initiatives. The framework would include supervised practical assignments, real-world projects for businesses or public institutions, portfolio development, and independent review of completed work.
He explained that such measures would help trainees demonstrate not only technical proficiency but also critical skills such as decision-making, problem-solving, quality assurance, and accountability—qualities increasingly valued by employers as AI becomes more integrated into everyday work.
Dr. Tsipursky also emphasized that the success of AI-skilling programs should be measured by employment outcomes rather than enrollment and certification numbers alone. He suggested tracking how many participants complete supervised projects, build professional portfolios, pass independent evaluations, and transition into jobs, freelance work, or further professional training.
The recommendations come as Pakistan moves forward with implementing its National Youth Employment Policy, which seeks to align workforce skills with market demand and strengthen collaboration among government institutions, industry, academia, and training organizations.
In his commentary, Dr. Tsipursky described Balochistan’s expanding AI training infrastructure as a strong foundation upon which more employment-focused programs can be built.
“Balochistan does not need to choose between rapid AI-skills expansion and rigorous employment preparation,” he wrote. “It can connect the two.”
