In a major development in the ongoing Pakistan-Afghanistan border tensions, the Afghan Taliban regime has formally requested a temporary ceasefire from Pakistan, which Islamabad has accepted. The ceasefire will be effective for 48 hours starting from 6 PM today, according to official sources.
The Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that during the ceasefire period, both parties will engage in constructive dialogue aimed at resolving the conflict peacefully. While the issues remain complex, Pakistan remains committed to finding a diplomatic solution without compromising its national sovereignty.
Prior to the ceasefire, the Pakistan Armed Forces conducted successful military operations targeting key Taliban leadership and militant hideouts linked to the “Fitna-e-Hindustan” network in Kandahar and Kabul. These precise strikes reportedly pressured the Taliban regime into requesting the truce.
Security officials stated that the operations targeted multiple Taliban battalion headquarters, including Battalion 4, Battalion 8, and Border Brigade 5. The strikes were conducted with high precision to avoid civilian casualties, demonstrating the professionalism of Pakistan’s military.
This ceasefire signals a temporary pause in escalating cross-border hostilities and opens the door for potential peace talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban.
