Eight people, including women and children, were injured in two separate drone incidents in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces after drones allegedly launched from Afghanistan crashed inside Pakistani territory.
According to preliminary reports, one drone fired from Afghanistan fell inside an Afghan refugee camp in Pishin district, Balochistan, injuring three Afghan refugees.
In a separate incident, another drone crashed in Shamat Khel Pastani, Hassan Khel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leaving three women and two children injured. All of the wounded were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
ISPR Says Drones Were Meant to Support Terrorists
Pakistan military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the drones were intended to assist and support terrorists hiding in the area.
According to the ISPR, Pakistan’s air defence network detected the drones immediately after they entered the country’s airspace, allowing security forces to respond swiftly.
The military further alleged that such actions by the Afghan Taliban government were aimed at distracting its own population from domestic realities while attempting to provoke Pakistan.
Pakistan Warns of Strong Response
The ISPR warned that if the Afghan Taliban continued what it described as provocations against Pakistan, they would face a decisive response and “pay a heavy price.”
The military reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces remain fully prepared to defend every inch of the country’s territory against any external threat.
Pakistan Previously Lodged Protest with Afghanistan
The latest incidents come days after Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned Afghanistan’s Chargé d’Affaires and issued a formal demarche following the terrorist attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi.
According to the Foreign Office, the attack resulted in the martyrdom of three Rangers personnel. Pakistani authorities stated that Afghan nationals were involved in the attack, with one suspected attacker arrested alive, describing it as further evidence that Afghan territory is being used by terrorist groups targeting Pakistan.
