Night travel to Balochistan banned by D.G. Khan administration

The Dera Ghazi Khan district administration has introduced a security protocol, banning nighttime travel into Balochistan. Effective immediately, all public and private vehicles will be stopped at border checkpoints from 5 PM until the next morning.

According to Deputy Commissioner and Regional Transport Authority Chairman Muhammad Usman Khalid, vehicles will only be allowed to cross into Balochistan during the day to reduce the risk of incidents. This directive impacts major border crossings at Sakhi Sarwar and Bawata.

This decision follows the tragic killing of nine bus passengers from Punjab in Balochistan. Additional security measures have also been implemented, including video recordings of drivers and passengers on public transport at bus terminals prior to departure, mandatory travel in protected convoys, and upgrades for public transport vehicles, such as active CCTV cameras, GPS tracking, and emergency panic alarms. Deputy Commissioner Khalid assured that passengers and transport operators waiting overnight at checkpoints will be provided with essential facilities.
