Federal Minister for Railways, Hanif Abbasi announced that victims of the Jaffar Express tragedy, the families of martyrs will receive financial assistance of up to Rs5.2 million.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Abbasi highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the railway system and improve the standards of its Railway Police to ensure better security across the network. He accused external forces, including India, of using Afghan territory to propagate terrorism within Pakistan and highlighted Israel’s attempts to spread propaganda whenever Pakistan advances its missile program.

Abbasi also strongly criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for amplifying narratives detrimental to national unity after the tragic train attack in Balochistan.
He commended the armed forces for a successful counter-terrorism operation following the attack. Additionally, he confirmed that the Railway Police’s pay scale has been adjusted to match that of the Punjab Police to further improve standards.
