Eight terrorists were killed during two high-tempo intelligence-based operations conducted by Pakistan’s security forces in Balochistan’s Kharan and Mastung districts, the military’s media wing said on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the intelligence-driven operations were carried out on June 25 and 26 as part of the country’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
The military said the operations targeted militants described by the state as “Fitna al Hindustan,” a term used by Pakistan for Balochistan-based militant groups that receive Indian support.
Three Militants Killed in Kharan
ISPR said security forces launched the first operation on June 25 after receiving intelligence about the movement of a group of terrorists in Kharan district.
The statement said troops carried out a precise engagement, killing three terrorists, while several others were injured.
Five More Terrorists Neutralised in Mastung
In a separate intelligence-based operation conducted on June 26 in Mastung district, security forces acted on information regarding the presence of a suicide bomber.
Following an intense exchange of fire, troops killed five terrorists, including a suicide bomber, according to the military media wing.
Weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and motorcycles used by the militants were also recovered during the operation.
Sanitisation Operations Continue
ISPR said sanitisation operations are continuing in both areas to eliminate any remaining militants.
The military reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
“Relentless counter terrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the statement said.
The latest operations come as security forces continue intelligence-based actions across Balochistan aimed at disrupting militant networks and preventing planned terrorist attacks.
