Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti

250 houses for flood victims have been completed in 5 districts of Balochistan. The authorities hand over the houses to the people in Quetta City, Pishin, Killa Saifullah, and Sohbatpur.

Keys of the newly built houses, constructed with the support of non-governmental organization Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) were distributed among the flood victims in a ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti called it a “selfless service to humanity”. He praised KORT for being a hope for the people and promised full support and encouragement to such organizations.

“Helping flood victims is a service to humanity,” he said and emphasized the need for quick and effective measures for the rehabilitation of the affected people.

In addition, the Chief Minister pointed out the delay in the federal government’s rehabilitation plan for flood-affected areas of Balochistan. He asked the federal government to hand over the project to the provincial government and assured them to complete it within 8 to 9 months.

“We will provide relief to the victims through public-private partnership and will complete the project effectively,” he said. Mir Sarfraz Bugti also referred to the Sindh model of housing reconstruction. He expressed confidence in replicating it to provide shelter to the poor victims.

The Chief Minister also announced the establishment of a big institution for orphaned children in Balochistan. He said that the provincial government will provide land free of cost for the purpose. “During the Kashmir earthquake, the whole nation stood with the victims. Today KORT has paid back that solidarity by helping the people of Balochistan,” he said. He thanked the donors, philanthropists, and volunteers for their help in this humanitarian cause

Lastly, Mir Sarfraz Bugti wrapped up his speech by stating that “Balochistan is changing and will continue to change.” He also urged all stakeholders to come together to guide the province towards development and prosperity.

The event also included comments from KORT Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Akhtar, who outlined the organization’s initiatives. Among the attendees were provincial ministers Mir Muhammad Saleem Khan Khosa, Mir Asim Kurd Gello, Parliamentary Secretary Haji Barkat Rind, and senior Pakistan People’s Party leader Syed Iqbal Shah.
