A new fleet of 21 Chinese-made buses arrives at Karachi Port, marking a major step in modernizing Balochistan’s public transport system.

Balochistan government’s efforts to improve public transport have taken a major step forward as 21 new buses imported from China arrived at the Karachi Port, officials confirmed.

According to Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzaib Khan Kakar, the buses have been purchased at a total cost of Rs810 million, with each unit costing around Rs38.5 million.

Senior official from the Transport Department, Ali Durrani, said that the new fleet will be deployed across various cities in Balochistan to modernize and expand the provincial transport system, offering citizens safe, reliable, and comfortable travel options.

“The buses are being transported from Karachi to Quetta and other districts, where they will be integrated into the government’s public transport services,” Durrani said, adding that this initiative will significantly reduce commuting difficulties for residents.

Commissioner Kakar noted that the buses were procured from a renowned Chinese manufacturer under an agreement finalized a few months ago. Each vehicle is equipped with air-conditioning, comfortable seating, security cameras, and eco-friendly engines.

He added that the project marks a significant investment by the Balochistan government in the transport sector and aims to improve connectivity between remote regions and major urban centers of the province.

Officials believe the initiative will play a vital role in promoting sustainable mobility, reducing travel time, and improving the overall public transport experience for passengers.
