Thirteen people were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents and shooting incidents reported from different parts of Balochistan on Tuesday, police officials said.
The deadliest incident occurred in Panjgur district, where five people, including four women, lost their lives and two children were injured in a road accident near Goran, about 60 kilometres from Panjgur city.
Police said the victims belonged to Kahda Abdul Hakim Bazaar in Prom tehsil. Rescue teams and local administration officials rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies and injured to hospital. The bodies were later handed over to the families after completion of legal formalities.
In Awaran’s Jhao area, gunmen belonging to the banned BLA shot dead a father and his son before fleeing. Police shifted the bodies to hospital and launched an investigation into the killings.
Another two people were killed in a traffic accident near Jalebi Mor in Loralai’s Mekhtar area. Police said Amanullah and Yousuf were travelling on a motorcycle when they were hit by a speeding vehicle. A truck overturned while attempting to avoid the collision, leaving its driver injured.
Meanwhile, a man was shot dead in Kohlu’s Garsani area by an unidentified attacker who escaped after the incident.
In a separate case in Surab’s Gadar area, Aziz Muhammad was killed when unidentified armed men opened fire and fled the scene.
According to police sources, the banned BLA had threatened Aziz Muhammad Days earlier. Investigations are underway in the murder.
Another fatal accident was reported from Bakhtiarabad, where motorcyclist Ahmadullah was killed after a speeding truck struck his motorcycle on the National Highway. Two others, Mohammad Akhlaq and Noorul Haq, were injured in the accident and shifted to hospital for treatment.
Police said investigations were underway into the shooting incidents, while authorities were also examining the circumstances surrounding the traffic accidents.
