Security forces killed 12 terrorists during two intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Washuk and Mastung districts over the past two days, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday. The operations were carried out as part of the ongoing Rad-ul-Fitna-3 counterterrorism campaign targeting militant networks operating in the province.
According to the ISPR, security forces first tracked the movement of six terrorists in Washuk district on August 5. Acting on intelligence, troops launched a targeted operation and killed all six after a brief but intense engagement.
In a second intelligence-based operation conducted on August 6 in Mastung district, another six terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire. Security forces also destroyed a terrorist hideout during the operation.
The ISPR statment said the latest operations form part of the broader Azm-e-Istehkam national security strategy approved under the National Action Plan. It added that intelligence-based operations will continue across Balochistan to dismantle militant networks and prevent future attacks.
Commenting on the development, Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind described the operations as a significant success in the fight against terrorism. He praised the professionalism of the security forces and reaffirmed the provincial government’s full support for ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
Rind said the government remains committed to restoring peace and stability across Balochistan, adding that security operations against terrorist groups will continue under the national vision of Azm-e-Istehkam.
The latest operations are part of Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign in Balochistan, where intelligence-based operations have intensified in recent weeks. On the night of July 30–31, security forces raided a reported terrorist hideout in Nushki district, killing seven terrorists, including a suicide bomber, while destroying ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
A day earlier, on July 30 in Khuzdar district, security forces intercepted two vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) before they could be used, destroying both explosives-laden vehicles and killing four terrorists. The ISPR has said intelligence-based operations and sanitization efforts will continue across Balochistan to eliminate terrorist networks and prevent future attacks.
